According to my nephew, it has been raining for 12 hours, which is impossible. His mate points out that there is a lot of water in the sky. This kind of conversation makes a schoolteacher feel proud.
A brief inspection of the seedling-fest going on in the garden reveals that the baby plants that I have been nurturing are drowning.
Add hail (which we had yesterday) to the mix, and I fear that the seed companies may need to think about re-writing the blurb on the backs of their seed packets.
Seasonal planting running amok c/o stupid May Winter! |
C1 is a different child, again. Yesterday's Grammar SAT test was a challenge for her, and today is the start of the foray into Maths. A good breakfast comprising some mushrooms, some tinned chopped tomatoes, some baked beans and a 'flat egg'* should help.
'Flat Egg' joy! |
Apparently, the road that leads to C2's school is going to be closed to traffic for 4 days next week.
The wisdom of the powers that be astounds me.
If they could wait 4 days, the school will be closed for half term, and there would be no hassle at all. Instead, the road is to be closed from Monday to Thursday, ensuring a totally crap school run for all, for the last 4 days of this half of the so-called Summer term!
After popping in to Mummy and Daddy to firm up arrangements for tomorrow and Friday, and a visit to
collect a bag of wool and stuff from Mrs Home to Home, the rest of the day is to go according to the following plan:
Open up pressure cooker and find the treasure that is home-made chicken soup, strip all the tasty bits off the bones, blend and chuck in the chickeny lushness.
Sort out all the knitting needles into graded size order (and no, I do not have an ironing task to avoid! This is a task that I want to do, as I suspect that my knitting needles are breeding).
Continue with the Glory Hole blanket squares project using up all the scraps of wool in my stash.
45 x 2-round squares; 55 x 4-round squares; 30 x 6-round squares; 10 x 8-round squares; and 3 x 10-round squares. |
Collect C2 from school.
Make dumplings for the chicken soup.
Take crochet and children to Street Dance Club.
Bedtime for all.
* a 'flat egg' is C1's name for a dry-fried egg - cooked slowly in a non-stick pan. This has been a staple in our home since we had a flock of hens in the back garden, in a previous life.
