Managed the day perfectly well until 9:05am - arrived at the GP's reception, list of questions clutched in my hand, checked in, only to find that my appointment was actually YESTERDAY!!!!!!! After considerable apologies I managed to achieve a replacement appointment for 4:30pm TODAY, which was attended, and was a success.
Preferably, write appointment on the correct day in your diary! Doh! |
I have now got a much-reduced repeat prescription list, saving millions on behalf of the NHS. No more anti-depressants. No more blood pressure pills. Just a copious amount of soluble paracetamol and codeine, and the fabulous soluble antacid which save the day on a daily basis.
A brief examination of the knackered knees, and a letter is to be sent out to the lovely Mr Ding-a-ling referring me back, arthroscopied knee and it's failing partner in crime, for X-rays, MRI and such like. They are indeed in a mess.
Following the first minor fail, I then had a lovely cup of coffee with Mrs Fisherman, swapped our old computer desk for our camping table, had another coffee, fussed the dogs, gave her 2 of my best 'happy belated birthday' hugs, then left her to her cake-icing to hit the M5 to visit Emma Bariatric Dietician.
I got the timing right for this one, but messed up the parking arrangements.
It took 15 minutes to find a place to squeeze the Skoda, then after a rush to enter the building, was told that the venue had changed, to another building around the corner. I made the appointment with 2 minutes to spare. It was all good from there.
Er, try the building round the back, dear! |
I have now lost 38% of my excess weight, am holding the local record for amount of weight lost in the shortest amount of time, maxed out positive attitude, and been invited to a support group about to start for patients who have either had, or are about to have, a gastric bypass operation. I am happy about this. Also, apparently, I am much easier to hug (thank you Karen Bariatric Nurse!) due to the fact that I have shrunk so much already! Hooray!
C1 is all set for her foray out tomorrow, and BFF1's daddy is going to collect her, as I will be car-less.
C2's sleepover plan is going well too.
Mr 1957 is ready and waiting for my arrival tonight, when we go to listen to some excellent music at Re-Con.
I would like to announce that I have successfully added pasta, home-made tomato sauce, and home-made meatballs to my list of body-acceptable items on my menu. From today, I will also be trying tuna, aubergine dip, fat-free cottage cheese (limited to 40g due to lactose thingy) and will be attempting to make yogurt out of almond milk.
It is raining cats and dogs, so rather than waft around in a frock and sandals tonight, I will be wearing trousers and boots (and a cagoule).
Vogue, eat your heart out!
